“The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe.
If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened.
But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself."

Welcome to the website of Malcolm Hudson: TheCommunityTable.com.
What you are going to find here is pretty much what you would expect from a chef, writer, and 'world' traveler. Cuisine surely, techniques, recipes and more. Yet, equally important, as I am a political animal, a 'radical socialist' for lack of a better term, my stake in the community and the responsibilities that it entails are paramount to me. The socialism I practice is tightly wound around community, the common good. Where most men my age tend to drift right, becoming more conservative as they grow older, I have anchored myself firmly on the left, though not as an ideologue or a shill.
Rather than the rock hard politics of resolute conviction; my brand is the simple politics of the people. I want to make things work. It is our symbiotic relationship that we share with the land and the environment, the needs of the community and our working together for the common good. It is where democracy starts. It is about children and seniors. It is about health care. It is about small towns, and our turning the tide against agro-business; taking back our small farms, and bringing safe food back in our lives. It is about small business. It's about taking back main street from the chains and the faux food emporiums. Give small businesses that make up a communities flesh and blood a chance to thrive so communities can prevail, and the artists and artisans who enrich the community, giving it character and charm, a chance to find their place.
